Our Men’s Progress Club, Sisterhood, and Social Action are very active and support many synagogue programs.
Sisterhood
The Congregation B’nai Sholom/Fair Lawn Jewish Center Sisterhood, an affiliate of The Women’s League for Conservative Judaism offers many programs throughout the year.
We celebrate
Each year we sponsor, along with The Men’s Progress Club, the decorating of the Sukkah, a synagogue-wide Hanukkah Hagigah with sufganiyot (jelly donuts), latkes, dreidels, and Chocolate Hanukkah Gelt. On Purim, we have the Best Purim Carnival west of the Saddle River. We, also, provide gifts to all our B’nai Mitzvah youngsters, as we all kvell when a congregant celebrates this important milestone. During the High Holy Days, we provide snacks for Junior Congregation and offer traditional candy apples on Simchat Torah.
Men’s Progress Club
The Men’s Progress Club is an active and vibrant arm of the Congregation B’nai Sholom/Fair Lawn Jewish Center. During the course of the year, we run several meaningful programs, donate our time and resources when needed to the Center, bond with members of our club, and have fun!
Social Action – Tikkun Olam
The purpose of the Social Action Committee is to assist and facilitate the congregation’s participation in acts of tzedakah (charity) and Tikkun Olam (“repair of the world”). As Jews, it is our obligation to help create a just and caring community and our social action activities are geared towards advocating worthy causes and participating in community service. The Committee’s objectives are to identify and help meet the many needs within our Congregation B’nai Sholom/Fair Lawn Jewish Center community, assist charitable organizations and focus on relevant local, state, national, and international issues of concern.
