About Our Nursery School
Established in 1975, our school welcomes children ages 2 through 6. Jewish and non-Jewish families throughout Fair Lawn and the surrounding community enjoy our safe and secure environment. Our school provides a solid foundation for children to grow educationally, socially, and spiritually. We are a State-licensed facility.
We believe that children learn through play. We provide a warm and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to develop independence and self-esteem. We use developmentally appropriate practices, communicating with our families through lots of photos, posts, texts, and meetings.
Our Director and Teaching Staff
Debora Lesnoy is a seasoned director with an extensive background in early childhood education and development, both in the classroom and as an administrator.
Our Teaching Staff is composed of talented, passionate, and nurturing professionals. All of our staff are certified in Pediatric CPR and First Aid.
Our Program
The Nursery School offers a variety of options to accommodate the needs of our families. Included is an option for early arrivals and extended care. Our facility has spacious classrooms, a large indoor playroom, and a fully fenced safety surfaced large outdoor playground. Each of our classrooms is staffed to meet the individual needs of the children as they grow within our program.
We offer a hands-on, experiential learning approach to early childhood. Music, Yoga, Library, Educational Field Trips, Special Events, and Community Helper programs are included.
For our 2-year-old children, successful first-time separation is our main goal. We provide a loving, sensitive environment with opportunities for children to grow and develop at their own pace. Lots of experiential learning happens at this level as well, facilitated by our warm and loving teachers.
Our 3-year-old program encourages social and emotional development with an emergent cognitive curriculum. Gross and fine motor and social skills are developed through both structured and unstructured play, literacy opportunities, and more. Our days are filled with music, art, story time, calendar, weather, outdoor and indoor playtime, and more.
Our Pre-K program prepares children for Kindergarten with a curriculum that includes letter and sound recognition and hands-on science and math exploration. Dictation, inventive writing, and skill-based games are networked into a strong Pre-Kindergarten literacy curriculum. We work closely with both Public and Private school systems to ensure that our children are ready to thrive when they graduate.
Our traditional Judaic curriculum is a part of our everyday learning at all age levels. All of our classes participate in a weekly Shabbat class as well as full Jewish holiday celebrations throughout the year. We have a strong Hebrew language component, including daily Hebrew songs, an afterschool Hebrew Club, stories, and alef-bet. Several of our teachers are fluent in Hebrew.
We offer a Summer Camp Program where children enjoy daily outdoor water play and arts and crafts as well as weekly visits from a Bounce House/Waterslide, Music specials, animals, and more. Our facility is fully air-conditioned.
We offer after-school programs such as Hebrew Club and Kiddie Soccer.
Lots of Special events, including a Purim Carnival, Chanukah Party, Pesach Seder, Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebrations, Tu B’Shvat together, Parsha stories, Mitzvah Projects, and Shabbat celebrations encourage community participation.
We recognize that each child has unique talents, learning styles, and personalities. Our staff is committed to working with each child to ensure optimal social, emotional, and educational results. Our staff constantly continues their education through Seminars, Health and Safety training, Security training, and sharing ideas as a staff. We are committed to providing a comprehensive Jewish learning environment in which each child can grow, learn, and thrive!
