The mission of our religious school at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel is to join together our members’ homes with our synagogue by providing students with values, experiences and skills necessary to live a full Conservative Jewish life. Enroll your child in our hebrew school.

The school, which covers grades K-7, nurtures Jewish identity by promoting an appreciation and understanding of Jewish cultural and religious heritage.  The school provides instruction in the Jewish life cycle, Hebrew reading and writing, the geography of Israel and Jewish history and traditions, Torah studies, and Jewish liturgy and prayer. The program supports students’ needs to take part in the celebration of the Jewish holidays throughout the year, synagogue services, and rituals. We encourage regular family attendance at Shabbat services and welcome our students’ active participation in all aspects of davening and Torah reading.

The School meets two days a week and utilizes an innovative curriculum and extensive use of technology.  Staff are available for students who need extra services.  The school calendar includes many special events including cooking, art, family programming, Holocaust studies and use of the Youth Lounge.

Accordingly, our curriculum highlights:

  • Instilling a sense of pride in our Jewish community, our heritage, and in being Jewish.
  • Developing skills to actively participate in services and rituals at home and in the synagogue.
  • Integrating Jewish values and traditions into everyday life, so students will act morally
    and ethically as Conservative Jews.
  • Fostering a strong foundation that emotionally bonds our students to Israel.
  • Building a deep sense of spirituality, as well as a sincere desire for lifelong Jewish learning.
