Little Sunshine Day Camp
Little Sunshine Day Camp, a program for children ages 2-5, has been part of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center for well over 20 years. Summer is for fun and relaxation. Even young children need some time off from their routine. In our program, they can expect to have a lot of fun playing and socializing with other children their age in a loving atmosphere.
We believe that Summer-time means Fun-time. It presents an opportunity to relax the schedule a bit from the rest of the year. Of course children do not stop learning and growing, it’s simply that they can do it in a somewhat less structured way.
Our counselors and staff are a bright mix of young and not-so-young adults with an eye toward making things fun and a desire to make every day special for children. We’re not just a day-care service. We’re a summer camp with outdoor and indoor activities that will keep little ones busy, active and joyful all summer long.
We try to include some of the same programs day in and day out. Young children like to know what to expect, especially when they can look forward to activities every day.
Our campers can look forward to making art projects, and perhaps learning new songs. Weather permitting; there will always be an opportunity to play on our private playground, have fun in the sand box and enjoy our wacky sprinklers.
Naturally, they work up quite an appetite. Snack time is important, as well as rest time, to recharge their batteries. Once a week we enjoy making, baking and taste-testing our own snacks.
Since not all days are right for outdoor play, we’ll have a wealth of extra special activities for those days when it is too hot or too wet to be outside. Singing, drawing or painting, games and story-telling will all be part of our repertoire. We’ll be limited only by our imaginations.
Our calendar will include special events every week. We’re already planning to include favorites from past summers as well as some brand new and exciting events. So our campers can look forward to The Fun Bus, pony rides, and more. Specialists in yoga and in art will be part of our program during the summer.
This year we are planning a brand new and improved kindergarten class. It is a great stepping-stone for those about to take the big leap into kindergarten, while still in a familiar setting. We have planned special crafts, lessons, and even walking trips. One special project they can look forward to is building a life-size igloo made of recycled gallon water jugs. So start collecting them now!
More activities and events are in the works, look out for more details.
