Welcome to our Website and Welcome to our Synagogue Family
A Note to Visitors to our Website from Rabbi Ronald Roth
We appreciate your interest in the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel. Our goal is to welcome you and to inspire you. As we say to all who show interest in our synagogue, we want to know more about you as a unique person so we can discuss your gifts and find ways and we can enrich your life and you can add to our community.
We want everyone to feel welcome and become an active participant in our caring, spiritual home. Our membership is diverse. Some of our families have been in the community for generations, while others have moved here from many different places including a variety of Jewish communities abroad. There are singles, married couples, Holocaust survivors, Jews by Choice, intermarried families, blended families, those who studied for many years in Jewish Day Schools as well as those who have little or no formal Jewish education. All have found their place in our community.
We believe in pluralism and want to serve the needs of Jews from many different backgrounds within the framework of Conservative Judaism. For example, our Main Sanctuary service is totally egalitarian while our Chapel service is more traditional.
Please contact me at the synagogue (201-796-5040) or by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions or just to schmooze a bit about our congregation. I look forward to meeting you in person.
